Important

This timer is a general guide and is not a medical device. Always follow the personalised advice from your maternity team.

Call your midwife or maternity unit for guidance if you think you are in labour, are worried, or contractions are regular and coming every 5 minutes or more often.

Call them urgently if your waters break, you have vaginal bleeding, your baby is moving less than usual, you are under 37 weeks, a contraction lasts longer than 2 minutes, or you have 6 or more contractions in 10 minutes.

Call NHS 111 if you cannot contact your midwife or maternity unit. Call 999 if you think your baby is coming now and you have a strong urge to push.
