Bottle Feeding Calculator
Find out how much formula or expressed milk your baby needs per feed and per day, based on NHS guidelines.
General guidance often quoted is that formula-fed babies need approximately 150-200ml of formula per kilogram of body weight per day. This is split across multiple feeds.
General guidelines by age
- First few days: 15-30ml per feed (baby's stomach is tiny!)
- 1-2 weeks: 60-90ml per feed
- 1 month: 90-120ml per feed
- 2-6 months: 120-180ml per feed
- 6+ months: 180-240ml per feed (less frequent as solids increase)
Important notes
- Every baby is different — some need more, some less
- Watch for hunger cues rather than strictly following amounts
- Babies often take more during growth spurts
- Never force your baby to finish a bottle

Watch for hunger cues
Rather than watching the clock, look for signs your baby is hungry:
