Quick Assessment
Toilet Readiness Checker
Check the signs your toddler is showing to see if they might be ready to start potty training.
When are children usually ready? Most children show signs of readiness between 18 months and 3 years. There's no "right" age — every child is different. Starting before they're ready can make the process longer and more stressful for everyone.

Things to Consider
- Timing matters — Avoid starting during big changes like a new baby, house move, or starting nursery. Wait until life is relatively settled.
- Summer can help — Fewer clothes and easier clean-ups. But don't wait months if they're showing strong signs.
- Follow their lead — If they resist or get upset, it's okay to pause and try again in a few weeks.
- Nursery can help — If your child attends nursery, they often see other children using the toilet which can help.
