Private by design: your working list is saved only inside this browser, and there is no tracking on this page. Nothing reaches our server unless you choose to publish a shareable copy — and you can take that copy down at any time.

Helpful starting points

How it works

Four steps, about five minutes

There is nothing to set up and nothing to sign into. Start adding, and share it whenever you feel ready.

  1. Add what you need

Choose Add item for a product or for practical help. Paste a link from any shop, or tap a suggestion in Helpful starting points.

  2. Make it yours

Use Edit to name your list and write a short welcome message. Mark the things that matter most as Most wanted.

  3. Share one link

Choose Share list, then Publish my list. Send the guest link to family and friends — they do not need an account either.

  4. Watch it get sorted

Guests tap I can help and the item shows as taken care of, so nobody buys the same thing twice.

One thing worth doing early: choose Backup to save a copy of your list. Your list lives in this browser, so a backup is what gets it onto a new phone — and it also restores your private manage link.
Questions

Everything else you might be wondering

Short answers on accounts, sharing, privacy and moving your list between devices.

Do I need an account to make or share a list?

No account, email address or password is needed. Your list is saved inside this browser while you build it, and nothing reaches our server unless you choose to publish a shareable copy.

If you do publish, you get two links: a guest link to share with family and friends, and a private manage link that lets you come back and edit the published list from any device. Keep the manage link to yourself, and save a backup in case you change phone or clear your browser.

How do I add something to my list?

Choose Add item at the top of the page, or Add something beside your list. Then pick whether it is a product or practical help, and give it a name.

  • Product link — paste an address from any shop and we tidy it up for you. It is optional.
  • Price and quantity — approximate is fine. It helps people pick something within their budget, or club together on a bigger item.
  • Priority — set Most wanted for the things you really need.
  • Notes — size, colour, timing, or anything else people should know.
  • Already sorted — tick I already have this and the item stays on your list but is hidden from guests.

In a hurry? The Helpful starting points panel adds common newborn and recovery items in a single tap.

Can I ask for practical help instead of presents?

Yes, and it is often the most useful thing on a list. Alongside products you can ask for a home-cooked meal, a load of washing, a lift to an appointment, an hour of company or a hand with the older children.

People usually want to help but do not know what to offer. Putting it in writing takes the awkwardness out of it for both of you.

What should go on a baby gift list in the UK?

A good starting point is newborn sleepsuits and vests in a couple of sizes, nappies and wipes, muslin squares, plus maternity pads and comfortable nightwear for your own recovery — the bit most lists forget.

Add the larger shared items too, such as a pushchair, car seat or cot, with an approximate price so a group can club together. Our hospital bag checklist and baby budget calculator are useful for working out what you actually need.

How do I publish and update my list?
  1. Build and personalise your private list.
  2. Choose Share list, read the short explanation, then choose Publish my list.
  3. Copy the guest link for family and friends, and save your backup or manage link.
  4. After editing your list later, choose Update published list so guests can see the changes.

Publishing is optional, and nothing is placed on our server until you choose to publish. Published lists are hidden from search engines.

What can guests see, and how do reservations work?

Anyone with the guest link can see your list name, welcome message, the items still needed, your notes, product links, approximate prices, and whether something has already been reserved. Items you have ticked as already sorted are never shown to guests.

A guest chooses I can help and can optionally add a first name. The item is then marked as taken care of, which is what stops duplicate gifts. If a name is given, it is visible to you and to other visitors to that list.

They can also leave a short message of up to 200 characters. That is shown only to you on your own list — other visitors never see it — and it cannot be edited once sent.

Not sure how it looks from their side? Switch to Guest preview at the top of your list to see exactly what they see.

How do I move my list to another phone, or get it back?

Your list is saved in the browser you built it in. It will not follow you to a new phone or laptop on its own, and it will not survive clearing your browsing data.

Choose Backup to download a copy as a small file. On the other device, open this page, choose Restore, and pick that file. You will be asked to confirm before anything is replaced.

A backup also contains your private manage link, so it can get you back into a published list even if you have lost that link. If you still have the manage link, just open it on the new device instead.

Can I take my list down, and how long is it kept?

Yes. Open Share list and choose Unpublish. The copy on our server and its reservations are deleted, and the guest link stops working. Your private copy stays in this browser unless you clear it separately.

Published lists with no activity are automatically deleted after 12 months. Guest names and reservation details are removed when a reservation is released, when the list is unpublished, or when an inactive list is deleted. There is no advertising or analytics tracking on this page. More detail is in our privacy policy.

Is it really free?

Yes — free for you and free for your guests. There is no subscription, no premium tier and no charge for publishing or sharing a list.

Add to your list

Paste a link from any shop — we will tidy up the address for you.

Personalise your list

Starting over? This clears every item and the list name from this browser. It cannot be undone, so download a backup first if you might want it later.

Offer to help

You are marking this item as taken care of, so nobody doubles up.

Leave it blank to stay anonymous.
Only the person whose list this is will see the message. Other visitors just see your name.

Share your list

No account needed. Publishing creates a private copy that friends and family can open by link, while your working draft stays here on this device.

  1. 1
    Publish when ready
Only your list name, message and items are sent — nothing else.
  2. 2
    Share the guest link
Anyone with the link can see the list and offer to help. It is hidden from search engines.
  3. 3
    Keep your manage link
A second private link lets you come back and edit from any device.
Items you have ticked as already sorted stay hidden from guests. You can unpublish at any time and the copy is deleted.
